Our Goal is to achieve and maintain our patients state of optimal physical, mental, and social well being, through the elimination of misalignments and maladaptive joint compressive pressure, that may arise from of one or more of the bodies 24 vertebrae in the spinal column and supporting structures.
Misalignment and an increase in the joint mechanical pressure of the spinal column (traditionally defined by Chiropractors as Subluxations) as a result of environmental stress, poor biomechanics, increased muscular tension, trauma, time, and gravity can cause an alteration of normal functional joint mobility, and over time result in pain, decreased sensory awareness, as well as accelerated degenerative changes to the spine. This is caused by an increased load and pressure on supporting joints, discs, and ligaments sensitizing sensory nerve endings resulting in the experience of pain and an alteration of functional nerve balance, and may potentially result in a lessening of the body's innate ability to express its maximum potential.
At A Spinal Health and Movement Center: Ramirez Chiropractic we accomplish our goal through the specific application of forces to maintain proper alignment of the body's spinal column. We call this an adjustment. In an adjustment, a High Velocity Low Amplitude HVLA specific application of force is applied to the body's spinal joints that facilitate the body's ability to correct vertebral subluxations i.e. (Misalignments or Joint Restriction) of one or more of the body's vertebrae, or joint extremities (shoulder, arm, wrist, leg, knee, ankle).
In addition, our office will also use additional therapies where needed, including soft tissue massage to reduce muscular spasm and resistance to stretch. Other modalities include interferential stimulation to reduce spasm, teraquant laser to reduce joint and disc inflammation, and intersegmental massage tables and chairs for reduction of spinal joint tension and relaxation of supportive spinal musculature.
We will also refer out for x-rays and/or MRI in cases of trauma, advanced degenerative conditions, possible disc herniation, or lesions as indicated by examination, but we recommend that patients seek Medical Opinions and Examinations with their Primary Care Physicians or Medical Providers prior to commencing chiropractic care, especially if neurologic or orthopedic symptomatology is present.
We will make appropriate recommendations and referrals in areas that are outside of our scope of practice where needed, and we limit our practice to the Science and Art of Chiropractic and Manual Medicine. We strive to keep the highest integrity and responsibility to our patients and our profession. Therefore, as an reflection of our commitment, we are Advance Practice Certified.
